Tribune, Chandigarh, September 6, 2004

A Mohali-based IT firm, Netsmartz India, has bagged prestigious orders of developing and managing the complete IT infrastructure of two US-based passenger ships — Cats (Canada-America Transport System) Fast Ferry and Vineyard Fast Ferry. The former connects the USA and Canada over lake Ontario while the latter operates from the mainland US to the island of Martha’s Vineyard, a popular vacation destination.

While the Cats Fast Ferry is a multi-year contract billed over Rs XX crore, the Vineyard’s project is pegged at Rs XX crore.

Netsmartz India is the Indian arm of Netsmartz, a New York-based firm. Under an agreement, the former provides software development services while the latter provides marketing and project management. The company also caters to clients like Intel, Kodak and ABB.

“The Fast Ferry is a prominent project which involves a Rs XX-crore ship. The ship operates at over 80 kmph. Netsmartz - Netsmartz India will set up the entire infrastructure, including complete software development, website hosting, reservation systems, e-marketing and financial systems,” says Mr. Manjeet Dhariwal, CEO, Netsmartz - Netsmartz India, who is on a short visit to India. “The company has also inked a deal to develop and deploy IT infrastructure along similar lines on Vineyard Fast Ferry,” he adds.
